NHL Slapshot – 4/5

Today’s NHL Slapshot

Here are a few plays for tonight’s small NHL slate

Connor Hellebuyck: Calgary has packed it in for the remainder of this year and Winnipeg needs to get the good play going until the playoffs start. The Flames have only scored 8 goals total in their last 8 games, so I do not see them posing a huge threat on the offensive end. Hellebuyck has won his last 7 games so I think he will continue to roll in tonight’s matchup.

Antti Ranta: This is not the safest play by any means, but I think it could make for a good GPP play. Raanta has won his last 6 games and has only allowed 7 goals in that 6-game span! Vancouver does not scare me with their offense, so this could provide a lot of upside for tonight’s slate.

Here are a few stacks that I like for tonight’s slate (Note, check or for any line changes that are made throughout the day, especially since we are nearing the end of the season)

Winnipeg- The Flames have allowed 32 goals in an 8-game stretch, so it only makes sense to attack them with the Jets tonight. Eventhough the Jets are rest Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele, the line to use will be Stastny, Laine, Ehlers and Dustin Byfuglien. They are all together on the first team powerplay and this group poses the biggest scoring threat. I really think this line will light the lamp several times tonight!

Arizona- I really like the idea pf using the Coyotes tonight for a sneaky gpp stack. There are a lot of great options tonight and I think people will overlook this group Looking over their last 8 games, they have put up 30 goals which averages out to be 3.75 goals per game! They have beaten the Canucks twice this year and I think the Coyotes main line of Keller, Stepan and Panik draw a great matchup regardless if they get the Sedin line or Bo Horvats line. Lock in Keller, Panik, Stepan and Oliver Ekman-Larsson!

San Jose – I’ll go back to my guys tonight, especially if Evander Kane is able to play tonight. The Avalanche love to score but they are also susceptible to being scored on, so I think both the SJ 1 and SJ 2 lines will find some success tonight. The Couture line was on the ice the most when the Sharks played the Stars, so I would think that they put them out there when Mackinnon, Rantanen, and Landeskog see the ice. If that is the case, the SJ1 line of Kane, Pavelski, and Donskoi will get an extremely favorable matchup against the Col 2 line. For a larger GPP, I would look towards the SJ 2 line of Hertl, Couture and Boedker since they will have lower ownership but will also be facing the high powered offensive attack of the Col 1 line who love to push the pace of play.

  • If Kane is unavailable to play, Timo Meier will most likely get the nod to be on the top line and I would still look to use this pairing.

Game Stack of the night: NYI/NYR– This game is listed as a 6.5 total pointing towards the over so of course, this would make a great spot for a game stack opportunity! Both teams have struggled on the defensive end so there should be plenty of fireworks from this game tonight. I would look at the Rangers top line and the Islanders top 2 lines for the scoring in this game.

Other one-off plays I like:

C: William Karlsson, Ryan Johansen, Nico Hischier, Jonathan Drouin

W: Jakob Voracek, William Nylander, Paul Byron

D: Morgan Reilly, Jeff Petry
