Batter Breakdown – 5/8
We have a really nice slate tonight. There are some solid and elite plays across the board. As of right now, Coors has some serious weather issues. Those guys are all in play, but let’s keep an eye on what’s going on out there.
Austin Hedges– I really want to attack Nick Martinez tonight. Martinez is allowing a .273 average to RHB with 3 home runs. On the road, the average spikes to .375. Against RHP Hedges comes in with a .293 wOBA, .267 ISO and 34.9% hard hit rate. He has won me a lot of money with his early season power, so I may ride the wave again tonight.
Rene Rivera– Matt Moore is hit or miss. He’s allowed a .319 average with 13 ER and 3 HR to right-handed bats this season. Versus LHP Rivera has a .300 average with a 50% fly ball rate. I think we can punt this position here tonight, and Rivera brings good value with HR Potential.
(Favorites in order Hedges, Rivera)
Will Myers– I said I wanted to attack Nick Martinez, and Wil Myers’ numbers vs RHP are elite. A .327 average with 6 home runs, a .404 wOBA, .296 wOBA and .333 average at home. He should come in lower owned, considering there are some big names on the slate today. Double Dong prediction.
Kendrys Morales– Morales faces Trevor Bauer, who does have some high K potential. But at the same time, he does struggle with LHB on the road allowing a .323 average with 9 ER and 2 HR. Morales has shown power vs RHP with 5 home runs, .300 wOBA, .211 ISO and 43.8% hard hit rate.
(Favorites in order Myers, Morales)
Neil Walker– Going back to the Mets again, I like Walkers matchup with Moore. Again, Moore struggles with RHB and Walker being a switch hitter should see 2 maybe 3 AB. Walker comes in with a .308 BABIP, .292 wOBA and 48% fly ball rate all vs LHP.
Chad Pinder– He’s my low owned dong of the night. Pinder has great numbers vs RHP, and tonight he gets the dumpster, Ricky Nolasco. Versus RHP Pinder has a .400 average with 1 home run, .375 BABIP, .520 wOBA and 55.6% hard hit rate.
(Favorites in order Pinder, Walker)
Justin Turner– One of my 2 favorite plays. The dude mashes RHP. He’s facing Trevor Williams who has given up a .368 and 1 HR to righties along with a 31.8% hard hit. Turner owns a .418 average with 1 home run (.500 at home), .491 BABIP, and 42.9% fly ball rate. The wind is blowing out to right tonight as well. Love Turner tonight
Anthony Rendon– He been hitting extremely well the past week with 13 hits in his last 6 games including his monster game against the Mets. He’s facing righty Gausman where he has hit .271 with 3 home runs, .304 on the road, and a .311 BABIP.
(Favorites in order Turner, Rendon)
Corey Seager– My second favorite play of the night. With Seager in the 2 hole and Turner in the 3 hole, these guys are doing to do damage tonight off Trevor Williams. I play Seager no matter what against righties. He’s elite with a .324 average, 3 home runs, .404 wOBA, .365 BABIP, and 49.1% hard hit rate. He needs to be in your lineup tonight.
Aledmys Diaz– A little narrative, as this is the first time Diaz is back in Marlins park since the death of his childhood friend Jose Fernandez (thanks WallenFunk for the reminder today). He faces lefty Adam Conley, where he’s hit .278, .288 wOBA vs LHP and a 50% flyball rate away from Busch stadium.
(Favorites in order Seager, Diaz)
