Main Value Slate Report – 6/17
Main Value Slate Report
For this article, I will be selecting two guys from each game (1 from each team) that could be a good value play based on their matchup.
Cleveland Indians Vs. Minnesota Twins- For the Twins, I think Kennys Vargas could be a good option against Mike Clevinger tonight. He is $2,900 and does provide some power. He has hit all 6 of his home runs against right handed pitchers and is batting .294 at home. A guy from the Indians side that could easily go under owned is Austin Jackson. He is $2,600 and draws a righty vs. lefty matchup. Against lefties this year on the road, Jackson has averaged .348 and 4 doubles. If the Indians go off for some runs, he could be involved.
Boston Red Sox Vs. Houston Astros- A cheap value play for the Red Sox in this game could Chris Young. Young is $2,000 and is hitting .272 against right-handed pitchers. He hits better against righty pitchers and most of RBIs have come versus right-handed pitchers (2 home runs and 12 RBIs). He also has a 56.25 hard contact rating over his last 7 games! A good spot on the Houston Astros side could be Marwin Gonzalez. He is $3,200 and is batting in the 2-hole in the order. He hits righties very well, averaging .325 with 9 home runs. He also loves hitting at home versus right-handed pitchers, averaging .314 with 7 home runs.
Chicago Cubs Vs. Pittsburgh Pirates- Miguel Montero is $2,100 and batting cleanup. He could be a must play at the price and spot in the batting order. Montero is batting .264 against right-handed pitchers but is batting .353 at home versus that handedness of pitching. Lock Montero in your lineups! The Pirates draw a tough matchup against Arrieta. One guy that could do some damage is Josh Bell. He is only $2,700 and is batting 5th in the batting order. Bell has hit 8 home runs versus right-handed pitchers with 22 RBIs. If Arrieta gives up a long ball, it will most likely come from Bell.
Kansas City Royals Vs. Los Angeles Angels- Luis Valbuena draws a good matchup in tonight’s game. He is a lefty hitter that does have power potential. Valbuena is $2,400 and usually cracks the lineup when a righty is on the mound. Over his career, Valbuena has 86 total home runs and 73 of them have come from right-handed pitchers so he always has that power upside. Alex Gordon is at $3,000 and he has been stinging the ball recently. He has had 9 hits in the last 6 games and has had double-digit FanDuel point totals over that 6-game stretch. Gordon could be a nice value piece that you can throw into your line if you are needing salary relief for a higher priced pitcher.
